The United States offers surfers East and West Coast Surf breaks which differ seasonally, in the size and consistency of swell. With an almost unlimited number of surf breaks on the East Coast in Washington, Oregon and California all the way down the West Coast to the southern beaches around San Diego, there's always a great break somewhere or waves good enough to have some fun with.
For something entirely different, the midwest Great Lakes regions are renowned for freshwater lake surfing. Yep, that's right! With seasonal exposure to very high winds during the winter months from December - Feb swells can and do get up around 5 -6 ft. The water temperatures are icy and head to toe thermals are needed. Most popular spots are Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. Each lakeshore break will work under different conditions so be sure to ask the locals who have plenty of experience predicting these waves.
The inumerable breaks on the East Coast offer excellent surfing opportunities and really should be broken down into sub directories by regional area however, until we have listings for each location we can only offer general summaries of the East and West Coasts of the United States. If you have a specific question about a particular destination and you can't find a surf school listed for that area, feel free to email us for a list of contacts or advise.
