Ecuador is exactly at the middle of the world, with a climate that is tropic 365 days a year due to its geographic location in the Andean corridor. Ecuador enjoys two main surf seasons, being exposed to both north and south swells which are usually between 2 - 6 ft in the offshore season, from Nov - March. From December through until the end of May the surf gets big but the winds are unpredicatble and the weather can tend to be overcast and rainy. The Playas area in Southern Ecuador is your best place for surfing during this season if you don't need perfect conditions to motivate you.
Equador is incredibly cheap and with uncrowded surfing conditions guaranteed, warm water temperatures, no currents and great surf, it rarely gets better than this. You can visit local markets and join in any of the many local festivities.
